Children's classes in the dc area
There are different opportunities children have when it comes to classes for them to take. The classes are found all over the DC area, such as NE, NW, SE, SW, Bethesda, and Arlington. Below is a list of only a few of the many classes available to children.
-All Fired Up (NW): An art studio that allows you to express yourself with unlimited studio time. You are allowed to paint your own pottery, mosaics, ceramic fusion, fused glass and acrylic painting. Pottery starts at $2.00, but the average prices are $20-$25.
-Alliance Francaise (NW): Promotes French language and culture all around the world. There are classes for young children and adults.
-Anna Banana Arts and Crafts (NW): Classes teach about famous painters and works of art. Children are allowed to make creations with pastels, watercolor, charcoal, paint, print making, photography, painting and sculptures.
-Art Space Open Studio (NW): Holds $5 classes for children 18 months and older. From 10-11:30 on Monday morning, children are allowed to make numerous fun and safe art projects.
-Bald Eagle Recreation Center (SW): This place has outdoor and indoor classes for all. It has a basketball court, boxing center, computer lab, dance studio, fitness center, gymnasium, kitchen, multipurpose room, park site, playground, softball field and tennis court.
-Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (SE): Children can learn digital design, photography, print and book making, rhythm, tap, dance, guitar, theater and much more,
-Chinatown Community Cultural Center (NW): Teaches children the Chinese language through songs, games, role-plays, and crafts.
-Dance Institute of Washington (NW): Children 4 to 5 years old can learn the fundamentals of dance. There are also parent-children classes where the children learn how to dance with the help their parents.
-DC Creative Writing Workshop (SE): Works with students to improve their writing skills. A portfolio is kept in order to document the child’s progress. They have writing clubs, drama clubs, and literary magazine clubs.
-DC Department of Parks and Recreation (NW): Has numerous activities that children may do. The areas they focus on are sports, health, fitness, aquatics, environment, therapeutic, and many camps.
-Educational Theater Company (Arlington): Classes after school, during winter break, and spring break, teach acting and drama skills to the children.
-Fort Dupont Ice Arena (SW): Children ages 5 to 18 are permitted to attend classes where they will learn how to skate on ice.
-GALA Hispanic Theater (NW): Performance workshops that focus on aspects of acting techniques, including voice and movement; creative self-expression; collaboration; cultural identity; and communication. This is done in both English and Spanish.
-Imagination Stage (Bethesda): Children ages 1 to 17 learn the process behind film, movies, and other performance arts.
-Levine School of Music (NW, SE, Bethesda, & Arlington): Exposes children to music and different aspects of music. There are public classes, but you may request private classes.
-Sitar Arts Center (NW): These classes are for children of all ages. They will learn dance, drama, digital and visual arts, music, and writing.
-Young Actors Studio (Arlington): Specified for children ages 5 to 14. They learn how to make puppets and masks, the work of Shakespeare, write plays, and play in an area called “Kidsville”; this area is child friendly and is run by students of the Young Actors Studio.
